Residential Remodel
Sarasota’s Lancaster Interior Design brings vision to a cold weather retreat
When a couple decided to winter regularly in sunny Sarasota, they purchased a 4,200 square foot luxury condominium on the Gulf of Mexico. While the Gulf views were spectacular, the unit was not, so they decided that a total renovation was necessary. To help them create their vision they brought in Sarasota interior designer Bonnie Lancaster, ASID of Lancaster Interior Design.
The homeowners wanted a quiet and restful place, keeping the focus on the outside view. The condo’s palette combines the classic seaside grays picked on a rainy day contrasted by the aqua sea glass hues seen while the sun is shining along the coast. The interior design accents are a pop of orange here and there.
The kitchen wall came down to give them an open concept kitchen. Lancaster Interior Design added a book-matched Calcutta marble island that formed a cube and did the ceiling tray to match. The dated tile was removed and Lancaster Interior Design added wide plank Kahrs Oak with a inlaid border design. In the bathrooms the existing tile was replaced with honed Calcutta marble paired with inserts of Thassos diamonds, blending the white on white tone throughout.
Wallcoverings were added in ranges from silver metallic to pale aqua and a splash of subtle leopard. The beginnings of an art collection were started and quickly evolved to wonderful pieces that added to the subtle look.
Organic materials were used throughout to add a beach feel to the interior design and keep it quiet as requested. Bonnie Lancaster brought a vision to life for a cold weather retreat, and what a getaway it turned out to be.
